Hugo Tormento swimrun coaching

    Prepare your Swimrun
with a Triple World Champion's Method

Personalized coaching for ambitious amateurs: swimming, trail, transitions, gear, nutrition and race strategy — designed around your busy professional life.

Why swimrun is the perfect sport for demanding professionals

Born in 2006 in the Stockholm archipelago with the legendary ÖtillÖ, swimrun is now recognised as one of the most complete endurance sports in the world. The principle: alternating, in pairs and without equipment transitions, open-water swimming sections and trail running over courses ranging from 10 to more than 75 kilometres. Cut wetsuit, paddles, pull-buoy and trail shoes stay on the athlete the entire race — every transition becomes a mini-effort of its own. This hybrid format demands aerobic power, open-water swim technique, technical trail running and the ability to cooperate with a partner under fatigue. That density is what makes it a unique challenge: a single race format compresses several disciplines into raw environments (sea, lakes, forests, islands), where strategy matters as much as the engine. For an ambitious amateur, swimrun is not a variation of triathlon — it's a discipline of its own, requiring specific and structured preparation.

The real challenges of amateur swimrun

Three pitfalls that wreck more races than weather or terrain ever will.

    Water-to-land transitions

Poorly managed, they generate a brutal cardiac spike that destroys the next 15 minutes of running. It's a trainable skill, not luck.

    Hidden technical gaps

90% of amateur swimmers carry technical flaws that drain them on swim sections. Without a corrective protocol, every kilometer in the water costs double.

    Pair strategy, often ignored

On long distances, the binôme is decisive: tether use, pace contracts, role split in transitions. Most amateur teams improvise — and pay for it after kilometer 20.

    Swimrun FAQ

No, but you need clean fundamentals and a real willingness to work on technique. Many of my athletes started with significant gaps in the water; with a corrective protocol and weekly video feedback, progress is fast and measurable.

Yes. The plan prepares you individually so you arrive at the race in optimal shape. We can also work on the partner-search criteria and pair strategy once a binôme is confirmed.

For a first race, a Sprint format (around 10–15 km total) is ideal: enough to feel the full discipline without crossing into deep fatigue. We pick the race together based on your calendar, level and ambitions.
